Two suspects to appear in court for carjacking

DURBAN – Two suspects aged 25 and 42 are expected to appear at the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court today. This follows their arrest by police on Wednesday night. It is alleged that on 19 April at 15:00, a 30-year-old driver was offloading vehicle parts at a company on Blair Road in Pinetown when he saw a silver vehicle with unknown registration. Three armed males approached him and they demanded the bakkie at gunpoint. They loaded the vehicle parts back into the bakkie before fleeing the scene towards Otto Volek Road.

A case of carjacking was opened at Pinetown police for further investigation. Later on the same day, police spotted the hijacked vehicle driving along Otto Volek Road. The suspect was placed under arrest. Preliminary investigation conducted by police led to the arrest of the second suspect who came to the scene. When police searched his vehicle, some of the vehicle parts were found in his vehicle. Both vehicles were seized by police for further investigation.
