KIMBERLEY – A 40-year-old security guard is behind bars and is expected to appear before the Galeshewe Magistrate’s Court tomorrow, Thursday, 25 February 2021 on a charge of possession of suspected stolen goods. He was arrested yesterday, Tuesday, 23 February 2021 at his residence in Galeshewe.
His arrest came after members from Kimberley Crime Intelligence, Kimberley K9 and Northern Cape Organised Crime Units responded to a tip-off. They received information and linked the suspect with IT equipment that was stolen from the State Offices in Kimberley, where the suspect was placed as a security guard.
Amongst other IT equipment that was found in his possession, included five SanDisk memory sticks, laptop chargers, laptop bag and two laptops. The security guard was entrusted to safeguard the State building and managed access control to the building. Instead, he was found in possession of goods, that were reported stolen from the very same State building. The value of the recovered goods is estimated at R30 000-00.
