Qumbu: An intelligence-driven operation conducted in Qumbu led to the arrest of two male suspects, aged 29 and 46, each found in possession of a suspected stolen vehicle. The operation was carried out on Friday, 17 October 2025, by the Mthatha-based District Task Team.
According to South African Police Service, the first incident occurred around 16:00, when information directed the team to the residence of the 29-year-old suspect. A Nissan NP200 with ZN registration numbers was found and, upon verification, it was discovered to have a Chattsworth Cas Number from September 2025. The suspect was immediately arrested. In a separate incident at approximately 17:15, a VW Polo hatchback was identified in town. After being immobilized and checked, it was found to have a Phoenix Cas Number from January 2025. The 46-year-old suspect was arrested on the spot. Both suspects are scheduled to appear before the Qumbu Magistrate Court on Monday, 20 October 2025, charged with possession of a suspected stolen vehicle.
OR Tambo District Commissioner, Major General Norman Modishana, commended all involved in the operation, stating, “With all our dedicated members from different components/units working together, we will win the fight against crime.”
