Suspect arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition

NELSPRUIT – The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has welcomed the arrest of a 26-year-old man for possession of an unlicensed firearm at Masoyi near Hazyview, on 26 July 2022.

Members of Tactical Response Team (TRT) of the police from Pienaar received information about a man who was in possession of a firearm at a barbershop next to Dayizenza Plaza. They then responded to the matter. Upon arrival they searched the man and found him with the firearm (Norinco pistol) and one ammunition. He was arrested and charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

He is expected to appear in the Masoyi Periodical Court soon facing the said charges.

The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has further applauded members for arresting the perpetrator and has thanked also the community for providing the information which led to his arrest.
