Stanley Bethuel Monyepao aged 34 was sentenced to life imprisonment for rape, a further five(05) years imprisonment for attempted murder and twelve(12) months imprisonment for theft.
His sentencing comes after the accused raped a 28 years old woman on 2017-08-08 at about 10:00 at Ga-Dikgale village in the Sebayeng Policing area outside Polokwane. The accused arrived at the victims' house and requested money from her. The accused had just arrived at the victim's aunt and then left with the victim to his house but the aunt and other relatives became suspicious when the two took long to return. They followed them and when they arrived in the accused's home, they were all met by the sight of a shaken girl who told them that she was raped by her aunt's friend. The accused had already fled the scene.
The police were immediately notified. The accused was tracked down and arrested just a day after this horrible incident by the FCS Unit.
The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Major General Jan Scheepers commended the tireless work done by the FCS in this Province which led to the arrest and subsequent long jail terms given to these rapists.
