The Police in Magatle outside Lebowakgomo are investigating a case of culpable homicide which occurred today at about 14:30 along Ga-Ntamatise and Magatle Sharp Curve road.

It is alleged that three motor vehicles, where one was towing a trailer, were involved in an accident and four passengers including a five-month-old baby died instantly and two passengers were critically injured and transported to Zebediela hospital for medical treatment.

The preliminary investigations have revealed that the vehicle which was in front, stopped in the middle of the road waiting for stray animals to cross the road, subsequently a 1400 Nissan bakkie which was transporting passengers and goods, came with a high speed and collided with the trailer and the other car. The driver of the Nissan bakkie run away from the scene.

The four deceased were inside the Nissan bakkie and two other passengers from this Nissan bakkie were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

In the other two cars, there were only drivers and they survived without any injuries.

A manhunt for this driver of the Nissan bakkie is still on because he has been identified.

Police investigations are still continuing.
