Media Invitation: Roll-out of the Traditional Policing Concept at Nyandeni Great Place

King William's Town: The Department of Transport, Safety and Liaison together with the South African Police Service will jointly roll-out the Traditional Policing Programme at Nyandeni Great Place in Libode.

Traditional Policing Concept has been developed as a model for policing in rural traditionally led communities, as partners in the fight against crime.

The aim of the concept is to build capacity and strengthen partnerships in order to have a multi-disciplinary approach to address and reduce the fear of crime by jointly identifying the root causes, specifically in communities led by traditional leaders. Traditional policing concept is also one of the police's endeavours to bring basic policing services closer to the community.

The Department of Transport, Safety and Liaison MEC Ms Weziwe Tikana accompanied by Provincial Police Commissioner of the Eastern Cape, Lieutenant-General Liziwe Ntshinga, Nyandeni Local Municipality Mayor, Advocate Melusi Ngqondwana and a host of other profile figures.

Members of the Media Fraternity are hereby invited to cover the programme.
