NORTHERN CAPE - The Provincial Commissioner of the Northern Cape Lieutenant General Risimati Shivuri has condemned in the strongest possible terms the incident of Loeriesfontein whereby a 43-year-old man allegedly killed his seven-month-old baby boy.
It is alleged that the man who is estranged to his wife took his two children and refused to return them to the mother who has a court order to be the legal guardian of the children. The man apparently stabbed the baby before turning the knife on himself. The child was declared dead on the scene and the suspect is currently in hospital under police guard. He is expected to face a charge of murder as soon as he has recovered from Hospital.
The Provincial Commissioner sternly urges the communities to always find better ways such as counselling to solve their marital problems instead of punishing or putting grief on the children. Taking someone's life is a punishable crime regardless of the circumstances and the law will take its cause. emphasised the Provincial Commissioner.
Police investigation continues.
