ADDIS ABABA, Preparations to hold the 6th Tana High-Level Forum on Security in Africa which will take place in the city of Bahirdar cin Amhara State, about 560 kilometrews northwest of here this Saturday and Sunday have been finalized, according to information on the forum website.
The theme of the two-day forum is: Natural Resource Governance in Africa''. Renewable resources, which can also be poorly managed and highly exploited, have often been side-lined during discussions on natural resource governance, the Tana High-Level Forum on Security in Africa website reports.
The 6th Tana Forum background paper is identified as a comprehensive document on natural resource governance as its scope goes beyond just the governance of extractive sectors, it adds.
A member of the Organizing Committee and the Diaspora Affairs and Public Relations Director of Amhara State, Awlachew Masree, told the Ethiopian News Agency (ENA) that five committees had been established to carry out the preparatory work for the forum, which is expected to create opportunities to showcase Bahirdar's tourism attractions to forum participants.
More than 250 participants, including former and current African leaders as well as prominent experts, are expected to take part in the forum. The Tana High-Level Forum on Security in Africa is organized annually to discuss current issues in Africa.
