KWAZULU-NATAL – The Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation in Port Shepstone arrested Keanu Smith (26) yesterday, 26 May 2022 for possession of unlicensed firearm.

It is alleged that members received information about a suspect who was in possession of an unlicensed firearm at Southport area. They proceeded to the said residence and a search was conducted. Upon searching the house, one hunting rifle was found.

He was placed under arrest and charged with possession of unlicensed firearm. The seized firearm will be sent for ballistic testing to ascertain if it was used in the commission of any crime in the country.

Smith appeared in the Port Shepstone Magistrates’ Court today, 27 May 2022 and was released on R1 500-00 bail. The case was postponed to 30 May 2022.
