Dennilton SAPS embarks on Safer Schools awareness campaign to ensure safety in the school environment

DENNILTON – The South African Police Service in Dennilton continues with Safer Schools awareness campaigns today at Ramatshagalala and Tadimane Secondary Schools.

The members who took part in the campaign included Social Crime Prevention coordinator Sergeant Selala Inanda, Warrant Officer Ntuli, Sector 1 Commander, Sergeant Vilakazi, Crime Prevention and Sergeant Masombuka, Domestic Violence Coordinator.

A school search was conducted with the full support and assistance from Dennilton K9 Unit, Groblersdal Public Order Policing, Community Policing Forum, Young Civilians on Patrol, after one of the learners was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm at one of the schools on Thursday.

During the search, dagga, cigarettes and cellphones were found abandoned on the school premises.

Learners were addressed on the following:

• Gangsterism

• Bullying

• Substance and alcohol abuse

• Sexual assault

• Domestic violence

• Discipline

• Hitchhiking

• School vandalism

The school management appreciated the effort made by police and community policing forum in strengthening partnership with Department of Basic Education to fight crime at schools.
