Indonesian Ambassador to Algeria Safira Machrusah says that Algeria, her country's biggest economic partner in the region, tops the co-operation priorities of Indonesia with African countries.
During a courtesy call on the Speaker of the People's National Assembly (lower House of Parliament), Mohamed Larbi Ould Khelifa, here Wednesday, the ambassador expressed her country's willingness to foster co-operation between Algeria and Indonesia, according to a statement issued by the National Assemblyl.
Ould Khelifa said he was satisfied with the "good" level of political relations and confident of the same progress in economic co-operation as both countries, which are linked by a common history, have assets which allow them achieve this goal.
Parliamentary relations have been strengthened in recent years, said Ould Khelifa, who added that several meetings between senior officials or members of parliament from the two sides have yielded positive results.
Both parties also discussed a number of international issues, particularly the situation in Libya, Palestine and Western Sahara, and discussed ways to push the ideals of moderate Islam which rejects terrorism and violence, added the statement.
