MT FLETCHER – In a concerted effort to curb the stock theft, a multi-disciplinary operation between Mt Fletcher Visible Policing and Maluti Stock Theft Unit assisted by members of the community led to the recovery of 18 livestock (cattle), found hidden in a forest in the mountains.
It is alleged that members of the SAPS received information from the owner that his stolen livestock was spotted in the mountains at Mt Fletcher.
The information was immediately operationalised and the stock was searched through mountains, forest and even in the dongas.
After a lengthy search operation all the stolen livestock of Cattle was recovered. No arrest was made at this stage however, police investigations continue.
The acting District Commissioner, Brigadier Rudolph Adolph applauded the quick reaction of the SAPS members and the community working tirelessly to locate the stolen stock. “Working together we can make a difference,” he said.
