The Swartland K-9 and Rural Safety Units recently flexed their muscles in Malmesbury, Kalbaskraal and Abbotsdale. During joint operations with the South African Police Service (SAPS), which included the West Coast District Commissioner, Major General Sizakhele Dyanti, and neighbourhood watch (NHW) members, on 10 June 2023, these units stopped 4 individuals from continuing their criminal activities.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The arrests were for:<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
dealing in drugs<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
possession of a dangerous weapon and<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
suspected fraudulent activities with a SASSA card.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The units conducted the following:<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
confiscated 28 mandrax tablets, which consisted of quarter, half and full ones,<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
confiscated 19 tik items, which were found in straws and medium size transparent zipper bags and<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
searched 49 persons and 12 premises.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Western Cape Minister of Police Oversight and Community Safety, Reagen Allen said: \u201cDrugs are a menace in our society and these confiscations will go a long way in combatting the continued illicit trade. We have placed our units in strategic places to ensure criminals have nowhere to hide. We will continue to empower our various rural units, so that even greater successes can be achieved.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

They are passionate about ensuring safety in the greater Swartland and West Coast areas.
