POLOKWANE – The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has hailed the response of an off duty Police Sergeant whose reaction led to the arrest of one suspect following an incident of a house robbery at his house. The incident happened at Lukau Tshishive village under Mutale policing area in the early hours of yesterday morning, Sunday 05 December 2022 at about 01:30.<\/p>\n
The Police Sergeant, attached to Mutale SAPS, was allegedly attacked in his house while sleeping with his wife. The Sergeant was awoken by a loud bang on the door and three unknown males entered the bedroom, one of them carrying a firearm.<\/p>\n
The suspects demanded money and cell phones from the victim and they ultimately ransacked the room and took some clothes, footwear, ladies handbags and wallet with bank cards. The suspect who was carrying a firearm, shot the Sergeant on his shoulder and the other suspects dragged the wife to the nearby bushes.<\/p>\n
The brave Sergeant managed to crawl and get his service pistol and retaliated by firing a shot at the suspect who was left behind in the room. The suspect ran out of the house and jumped the fence and disappeared into the bushes.\u00a0 The wife later returned and investigations are unfolding on what could have happened to her.<\/p>\n
The Police searched the nearby bushes and found a man with wounds, believed to be the suspect who was shot in the house.<\/p>\n
The wounded man, was reportedly in possession of the goods stolen from the Police Sergeant\u2019s house.<\/p>\n
The wounded suspect is expected to appear before Mutale Magistrate’s Court soon on a charge of\u00a0\u00a0 attempted murder and house robbery.<\/p>\n
A search operation for the remaining two suspects has been launched and we are appealing to whoever might shed light about the suspects to contact the nearest Police or the Toll-free number 0860010111 or MYSAPSAPP.<\/p>\n
