Invitation to launch of police stations\u2019 GBV assessment report<\/P>
The Commission for Gender Equality (CGE) invites you to the launch of its report on the police stations\u2019 readiness to deal with gender-based violence (GBV).<\/P>
<\/P>
In 2021, the Commission instituted a process to conduct oversight visits to police stations in various provinces and areas that were classified as GBV hotspots, to assess mechanisms they have put in place to support survivors of GBV and sexual offences by providing victim-friendly services. The Commission compiled a report which has findings and recommendations that can be followed to protect victims and intensify the fight against GBV and femicide. The launch will take place as follows:<\/P>

The key objectives of this oversight monitoring process was to assess the Commission\u2019s recommendations contained in a report released last year, titled: Government\u2019s Emergency Response Action Plan (ERAP). These are:<\/P>
<\/P>
Undertake South African Police Service (SAPS) site visits and monitor each police station, particularly focusing on the GBV hotspots.<\/P>
Assess the institutional capacity of SAPS staff in dealing with GBVF cases.<\/P>
View the trends of sexual offences and outlined measures to prevent or reduce the incidence of violence against women and children<\/P>
Assess Victim Friendly Rooms (VFR)<\/P>
