BLOEMFONTEIN – Members of the twenty police stations in the district of Mangaung Metro held a Community Police Forum Annual General Meeting earlier today. The meeting marked the end of the interim structure tenure and afforded the members an opportunity to elect and usher in the new board that will serve the District for the next five-year term.<\/P>
The proceedings started with the outgoing chairperson, Mr MJ Setlhako giving a detailed report of the interim board activities. Mr Setlhako announced to the audience that the Annual General Meetings and elections of all twenty stations within the District were successfully held. He indicated that the incoming board will have to work hard in order to prevent the formation of illegal and unwanted structures within the community which promote vigilantism and mob justice incidents. He appreciated the good gesture of Kagisanong Police Station who awarded their outgoing CPF structure with certificates and gifts.<\/P>
The Provincial CPF Board Acting Chair Mr TJ Sebeela then kick-started the election process supported by Mr CM Mosesi (Secretary) and Mrs MR Mathibe (PR\/ Communication). The elections of the new Mangaung Metro CPF Board members concluded as follows;<\/P>
1.\tChairperson: Mr MJ Setlhako<\/P>
2.\tDeputy Chair: Mr G van Noord<\/P>
3.\tSecretary: Ms VC Makalima<\/P>
4.\tTreasurer: Mr TA Monamodi<\/P>
5.\tPR Officer: Ms NJ Leronti<\/P>
The Deputy District Commissioner, Brigadier KJ Ramokotjo, congratulated and welcomed the newly elected board members. He reminded them that CPF is a legal community structure established in terms of Section 19(1) of the South African Police Service Act 68 of 1995. He outlined the mandate of the structure as that of the facilitation of community policing relations. The Brigadier indicated that the structure serves as the mouth piece that facilitate communication between the community and the police. Lastly the Deputy District Commissioner indicated that the sole aim of the existence of the relationship is to meet regularly to discuss the safety issues and social ills in different communities and ways in which they can be dealt with.<\/P>
