Two accused sentenced for rape and robbery

NORTHERN CAPE - Today Mothibistad Regional Court has sentenced a 35-year-old man to 22 years imprisonment for raping his 15-years-old niece at Cassel village. The incident occurred on 17 February 2016.

It is reported the accused took the victim from the local tavern to his place. He reportedly assaulted and raped her.

The court also sentenced a 29-year-old man Kagisho Stella Bisone to 10 years behind bars after raping a 59-years-old woman at Cassel on 16 April 2014. It is reported that Kagisho went to the victim's house, broke the window and raped her. In another charge of car hijacking Kagisho was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment.

On the day of hijacking, Kagisho was offered a lift by a 57-year-old man on 2015-08-19. He reportedly hit the 57-year-old man with a broken beer bottle and fled with his car. The following day he was arrested at Mothibistad. The accused will serve his two sentences separately.
