Three suspects behind bars, police intercept drugs worth R117 000 in the Pixley Ka Seme District

KIMBERLEY – Crime Intelligence driven operations yielded enormous successes over the weekend, when members of the Northern Cape Provincial Organised Crime, Crime Intelligence and Kimberley K9 unit pounced on drugs worth over R117 000-00 in Douglas.

Members operationalised intelligence information and raided a premises in Shushu Street, Bongani Location in Douglas.

The suspect was found in possession of hundred and eighty (180) mandrax tablets. Hundred (100) mandrax tablets and 830 grams of dagga were found hidden under the seat of the suspect’s vehicle and eighty (80) mandrax tablets were found in the bedroom including cash believed to be the proceeds of drug dealings.

Another suspect was arrested, following stop and searches in Shushu Street. The suspect was searched and found in possession of nine (9) packages of crystal meth.

The team proceeded to an informal settlement in Douglas, following information of a suspect who was in possession of an unlicensed firearm. The alleged suspect, was not found at his premises. However, the members continued with the search and confiscated a replica of a 9mm firearm

In an unrelated operation in Prieska, members of Visible Policing acted swiftly subsequent to receiving a tip-off regarding a dagga delivery at a certain house in Nkompela Street, Ethembeni in Prieska.

The suspect was searched and found in possession of 244,2 grams of dagga sealed in a zip lock bag. Three suspects are expected to appear in the Douglas and Prieska Magistrate’s Courts respectively on counts of dealing in drugs. The Acting District Commander of the Pixley Ka Seme District, Brigadier Nomana Adonis applauded the team for the relentless efforts by members to clamp down on crime and squeezing the space for criminals.
