A 37-year-old Tshepiso Eric Magashule was remanded in custody when he appeared before the Mmabatho Magistrate's Court on Tuesday following his arrest for possession of unlicensed firearms on Monday, 13 February 2017.
The Hawks had received information about four suspects who were arrested by the SANDF members along the border line intending to jump the fence to Botswana. Upon conducting a search at the scene, a plastic bag containing two Norinco and one Revolver pistol was found. The firearms were taken to ballistics testing and the fingerprints on the firearms matched those of Magashule.
The Revolver pistol was also found to have been used during a business robbery at Lechtenburg in 2015.
The four suspects were later released while Magashule will appear again in court on 28 April 2017.
