WESTERN CAPE � Good co-operation between members of Cape Town K9 Unit and the National Intervention Unit led to the arrest of a 27-year-old armed robber in Athlone.
On 07 August 2019 at 08:10 the members responded to an armed robbery in Grasmere Road, Athlone.
Several suspects attempted to evade the SAPS but the K9 Unit members apprehended a 27-year-old with a 9mm pistol, a magazine and 15 rounds of ammunition on an open field in Athlone close to the N2.
The suspect is due to appear in the Athlone Magistrate's Court on charges of possession of unlicensed firearm, ammunition and armed robbery.
