Suspects arrested for possession of drugs

WESTERN CAPE – Our mission to fight the plague of drugs from the communities yielded positive results. On Tuesday 02 November 2021 at about 11:00 members attached to the Nyanga Sectors Team conducted a Vehicle Check Point (VCP) in Monwood, Brown’s Farm.

Whilst the members were busy they noticed a white Toyota Corolla driving in the direction of the VCP but changed direction and drove away. The members decided to chase after the vehicle. During the pursuit of the suspicious vehicle three males jumped out and the members chased after two suspects and apprehended them. Upon searching the suspects, the members found 50 whole mandrax tablets on one suspect and two mandrax tablets on the second suspect.

Both suspects aged 30 and 35 will appear in the Philippi Magistrate’s court today Wednesday 03 November 2021 on charges of possession of mandrax and dealing in mandrax tablets.

In an unrelated matter members of the Manenberg Crime Prevention Unit arrested two adult males aged 24 and 47 and a female aged 29 for the possession of tik and heroin in Katrina court, Elsa court and in Zuurberg Road Heideveld yesterday Tuesday 02 November 2021.

The suspects were arrested with 14 packets of tik and a total of 70 units heroin during stop and search operations in the Manenberg area.

The three suspects are expected to make court appearances in the Athlone Magistrate’s Court today Wednesday 03 November 2021 on the mentioned charges.
