WESTERN CAPE Our efforts to ensure the safety of the community payed off when four suspects were arrested by the Flying Squad in Athlone last night at around 22:50. One suspect aged 26 was arrested with tik and mandrax tablets when his suspicious behaviour prompted the police patrol to approach him. He made an attempt to evade his apprehension and discarded his contraband by throwing it on the roof of a house in Silvertown. After retrieving the drug parcel from the roof, the members decided to conduct a search of the house to which the suspect led them to. This resulted in the discovery of 19 rounds of ammunition of various calibres hidden in the ceiling.
Three suspects aged between 29 and 52 were arrested for the unlawful possession of ammunition. All four suspects are due to make their court appearance in Athlone once they have been charged.
