Suspect arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm

BLOEMFONTEIN: Earlier today Kagisanong Community Service Centre received a complaint of discharging of a firearm in a public area at a well-known car-wash in Khomo Street at about 00:30. The Crime Prevention team attended to the complaint and on arrival they were informed that the suspect fled the scene on a Black Volkswagen Polo sedan.

The team launched a search operation in the vicinity and the vehicle was spotted in Phaphama Street, Kagisanong. The members stopped and approached the vehicle. They asked permission to search the vehicle and found a Girzan Parrabellum pistol loaded with eight live rounds. The serial number of the firearm was filed off. The firearm was seized and the suspect arrested.

A case of possession of unlicensed firearm with additional charge of discharging of a firearm in municipality area was opened at Kagisanong police station. The suspect will appear in Bloemfontein Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 1 February 2022.
