Storms River man nabbed stealing inside police station

KING WILLIAMS TOWN - Alert police arrested a 32-year-old man in the act of stealing inside one of the administration offices of the police station in Storms River today.

On Thursday, 23 May 2019 at about 12:50am, a member working at the Community Service Centre spotted someone on the CCTV monitor scaling a boundary fence at the back of the police station and immediately summoned other colleagues for assistance. It is said that a suspect forced open a window and entered one of the offices in the administration block. It is said that a suspect was arrested inside the office busy disconnecting a computer. Police also recovered two memory sticks inside his pocket. A preliminary investigation has revealed that the memory sticks belong to a member who works at the police station. A 32-year-old suspect is due to appear at the Humansdorp Magistrate's Court tomorrow on charges of housebreaking and theft.

Humansdorp Cluster Commander, Brigadier John Lebok praised members for their alertness. It is pleasing to see the alertness and state of readiness of members, when a criminal came knocking at their own backyard, added Brig Lebok.
