Stolen Pierneef painting trial to begin soon

FREE STATE – Ricardo Metler appeared briefly before the Bloemfontein Magistrates Court yesterday. The case has been postponed by the Bloemfontein Magistrates Court to 26 October 2020 until 13 November 2020 for plea and trial purposes.

It is alleged that a “Pierneef” painting was stolen from the Premier’s office at OR Tambo building Bloemfontein. The alleged stolen painting was taken to “Strauss and Co” Auctioneers in Gauteng to determine the value and to be auctioned. The value of the painting was evaluated at R8 million. The said painting was seized at the auctioneers.
