South Africa: Search Continues for Missing Richards Bay Boys

Police would continue the search for two children who on Saturday went missing between Bay Hall and Pelican Beach, Richards Bay, authorities said on Sunday.

An extensive search in the area has turned up no sign of the boys aged 14 and 15. They were last seen in the water between 13:00 and 14:00.

The two are feared to have drowned.

KwaZulu-Natal provincial police spokesperson Major Thulani Zwane told News24 police were continuing the search for the boys.

NSRI spokesperson Craig Lambinon on Saturday said its Richards Bay crew had been training at sea when they were alerted to the incident.

"It appears that an ambulance service had been activated to the drowning accident only at least half an hour after the incident had taken place and only once they arrived on the scene to find that there were two children missing in the water they then activated sea rescue for assistance."

Lambinon said it wasn't known how the two boys had gone missing.
