On Friday, 18 November 2016, at about 22:30, members of the National Intervention Unit apprehended a drug dealer with drugs to the value of R4000. The NIU received information from a reliable source that the suspect is a drug dealer, dealing in dagga and heroin capsules. The suspect was travelling along Summer Field Road in Bayview, when he was tackled by members of the NIU. The suspect's vehicle was searched, and the suspect was found in possession of 99 sloops of dagga and 124 heroin capsules. The dealer was charged for being in possession of dagga and heroin capsules. The suspect appeared in Chatsworth Magistrates Court today.
Ethekwini Inner South Cluster Commander Major General Nunkumar commended members for their swift reaction in apprehending the drug dealer. "We will have a 'zero- tolerance' approach to all drug dealers in the Ethekwini Inner South area," he said.
