Western Cape: On Friday 2019-01-25 vigilant members attached to Kraaifontein SAPS arrested six motor vehicle thieves while they were busy stripping a stolen motor vehicle in Wellington Road Bloekombos, Kraaifontein.
After following up on information received from the public, the six suspects was caught in the act of stripping the stolen motor vehicle. The six suspects aged, between 19 and 28 years old were arrested and detained on a charge of possession of a stolen motor vehicle at Kraaifontein SAPS. After further investigations the motor vehicle was positively linked to a Strand SAPS case. This motor vehicle was stolen in Beach Road, Strand on Thursday, 2019-01-24. Once they are charged all six suspects will appear in the Blue Downs Magistrate's Court.
Members were commended for their swift reaction and the community for providing the information.
In an unrelated matter, Bishop Lavis SAPS' Integrated operations held on Friday, 2019-01-25, in conjunction with members of Vehicle Crime Investigation Unit and Law Enforcement, focused on illegal activities in the area of Netreg.
The operation started early in the morning when they entered the area and visited self-made Chop shops, verifying vehicles that was stripped as well as searching for possible stolen vehicles.
The entire operation saw the dwellings of 74 locals searched for possible stolen vehicles. One White Toyota Corolla, reportedly linked to a Bellville case was confiscated and taken to Stikland (Bellville VCIU).
One fine was issued to the value of R 2,500 and three Warnings were issued.
