Port Elizabeth administrator convicted for fraud

PRETORIA – The Port Elizabeth Specialised Commercial Crime Court has convicted 51-year-old Coleen Ferreira for various counts of theft, forgery and fraud on Tuesday.

The conviction emanates from the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation that linked Ferreira to five (5) counts of theft, six (6) of forgery and no less than twenty seven (27) counts of fraud.

These illegal transactions were carried out during the period December 2016 up until February 2019, wherein Ferreira in her capacity as an admin clerk of a Port Elizabeth based employee occupational health entity misappropriated and transferred just over R149 000 into her own personal account.

Faced with insurmountable evidence as presented by the Hawks investigating team, Ferreira who was arrested in June this year elected to plead guilty and the court found her guilty as charged.

She is due back in the same court for sentencing on 26 August 2020.
