Police visibility produce positive results

WESTERN CAPE – Sunday evening at about 19:10, Belhar police arrested a 19-year-old male for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition in Castle Lane, Belhar. The members were busy with stop and search operations in the policing precinct when they found a male with a firearm in his possession. He could not produce a license to possess the firearm. A 9mm pistol with ammunition were confiscated.

Once charged the suspect will appear in the Bellville Magistrates court on the mentioned charges.

In an unrelated matter, members of Operation Restore arrested a 29-year-old male for the possession of dagga in Makarena Street, Heinz Park Sunday evening, 31 July 2022. The members searched a premises after they received information about illicit activities at the premises. During the search the members found two parcels of dagga, 40 dagga cigarettes, 40 small packets dagga, 97 medium size sachets dagga and a undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect is due to make a court appearance in the Athlone Magistrates court once he has been charged.
