Police reunite a missing child with her mother in Mooiplaas

GAUTENG -The Police in Erasmia can now breathe a sigh of relieve after the members have reunited a two-year-old child with her mother on Monday, 27 May 2019.

According to information, the child was last seen by her aunt playing in the street with other children on Saturday, 25 May 2019. The mother, Plexceds Zimunhu (38 years) alerted and reported her missing child to the local authorities after she could not find her child shortly after 11am.

The police immediately embarked on search and rescue operation in Mooiplaas Informal Settlement. Over the past two days, the child could not be located and the operation was called off on Sunday evening however, a team of Search and Rescue K9 Unit members together with Erasmia SAPS Crime Prevention Unit members, Detectives Services and Mooiplaas residents resumed the search operation today, and with the assistance fromt the SAPS Air Wing, the child was located at the bushes near the Informal settlement. The child was found alive and she was taken to a local hospital for observation.

'I want to thank Erasmia SAPS for their commitment and dedication in making sure that my child is found alive, I have not been able to eat or sleep for the whole weekend thinking about my child in these cold weather conditions, I have been praying to God to keep my daughter alive, said the mother.

The Station Commander of Erasmia SAPS, Lieutenant Colonel Thandi Mokgoetsi commended all role players saying: I want to thank everyone who was involved in this search operation. I urge parents and care takers to ensure that they know the whereabouts of their children at all times, and I want to encourage the public to report a missing person immediately at their local police station as there are no waiting period to report, said Lieutenant Colonel Mokgoetsi
