Police arrest suspects with hijacked vehicle and drugs

WESTERN CAPE – On Friday 06 January 2023 members of the Maitland Flying Squad received information about a vehicle that was hijacked in Thornton and was traveling on the N2 highway. The members responded to the information and spotted the vehicle and tried to stop it. A shootout between police and the suspects ensued and a suspect was wounded and three others fled the scene on foot. A 32-year-old suspect was arrested for possession of a hijacked vehicle and an imitation firearm was found in the vehicle.

 

The suspect will make a court appearance once he has been charged.

 

In an unrelated matter members of the Robertson Crime Prevention Unit arrested an adult male for possession of drugs on Friday after they received information about drug activities at a premises in Luwane Street, Robertson. The members searched the premises and found 52 tik straws, 109 bankies dagga and a 1,3 kilogram dagga in a bag.

 

The suspect will make his court appearance in the Robertson Magistrates court on Monday.
