Nzimande to open new Walter Sisulu University buildings

Higher Education, Science and Innovation Minister, Dr Blade Nzimande, will today officially open new and renovated buildings at the Walter Sisulu University, Mthatha Campus.

The university has concluded a refurbishment project on lecture halls fitted with ultra-modern technology.

The lecture halls situated in the East Teaching Mall at the Nelson Mandela Drive (NMD) site will be using the latest technologies to enhance teaching and learning experiences through the use of smartboards and wireless connections.

“The newly renovated lecture halls are also accommodative of students living with disabilities while two of them also accommodate lecturers with disabilities.

“The refurbishment of the infrastructure was done and concluded to restore the dignity of all WSU students, as the spaces in which they were previously taught in, were not giving them the dignity, they deserve,” the department said.

The refurbishment project started in February 2022.
