Most wanted suspect nabbed and appeared in court

POTCHEFSTROOM � One of the most wanted suspects in North West; John Khoza, 37, was arrested on Monday, 10 June 2019 at Kanana Township, Orkney through an Intelligence driven operation.

A multi-disciplinary stabilisation team comprising of Rapid Rail, National Intervention Unit (NIU), Crime Intelligence, K9 Unit, Klerksdorp Crime Combatting Unit as well as Cluster and Kanana Detectives arrested Khoza for cases of house breaking, theft, possession of suspected stolen properties and illegal possession of a firearm. He was arrested together with two accomplices aged 40 and 43. It is alleged that Khoza committed most of these crimes at Doringkruin, Klerksdorp between 2013 and 2016 and stole household items such as Plasma Televisions, firearms, laptops and electrical appliances. Some of the stolen properties were recovered at Khoza's residential place. Khoza has been in the most wanted list since his escape from lawful custody in 2016. At the time of the escape at Tshepong Hospital, he was facing six cases of burglary and one of house robbery.

He appeared in the Klerksdorp Magistrate's Court today, 11 June 2019 facing charges of escaping from lawful custody, house breaking and theft as well as house robbery. He is expected to appear again in the same court together with his two accomplices on Wednesday, 12 June 2019, for house breaking, theft, possession of suspected stolen properties and illegal possession of firearm.

North West Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane congratulated the Klerksdorp Stabilisation Team and all members that were part of the operation that led to the arrest of Khoza and his accomplices. She said that the arrest will serve as a warning that no criminal will be allowed to walk free in the streets of this province.
