Minister of Small Business Development, Ms Lindiwe Zulu, will address the Mpumalanga Provincial House of Traditional Leaders on Friday, 18 November 2016 in White River. Minister Zulu will be joined by the MEC for Economic Development and Tourism in Mpumalanga, Mr Sikhumbuzo Eric Kholwane.
Minister Zulu will use the occasion to share with traditional leaders information about programmes of the department as well as available opportunities that traditional communities can seize in order to empower themselves economically. She believes that traditional leaders, working together with government, can achieve economic development in their communities and thus contribute to sustainable livelihoods.
Minister Zulu said: "As government, we are determined to broaden participation by empowering historically disadvantaged communities to participate in the mainstream economy". She added: "We appreciate the important role that many traditional leaders play in the ongoing national effort to push back the frontiers of poverty, particularly in the rural areas.
As government engages in the task of creating a better life for all, it will continue to rely on partnerships with traditional leaders".
