Minister Bheki Cele hands over newly built Chatty police station and lead safety imbizo in Chatty Eastern Cape, 26 May

In a bid to address the policing needs of communities and bring policing resources closer to communities, Police Minister, General Bheki Cele will on Friday 26 May 2023, handover the Chatty police station in the Eastern Cape.

The Chatty police station is one of 13 new police stations that will be handed over to communities during this financial year.

During the 2023/2024 financial year, the South African Police Service (SAPS) has allocated R1 billion to build police stations and another R30 million rand to convert trucks to mobile Community Service Centres.

Members of the media are invited to attend the Chatty police station handover, that will be followed by a Crime Prevention Imbizo hosted by the Ministry and SAPS management.
