MEC Gaolaolwe to hand over urban search and rescue and first aid certificates

The MEC for Local Government and Human Settlements in the North West, Galaletsang Gaolaolwe, will on the 25 September 2018, handover certificates to municipal fire-fighters who have completed the urban search and rescue training.

MEC Gaolaolwe will also hand over certificates to learners' aides and learners who have completed first aid training. They (learners' aides and learners) are from Onkgopotse Tiro comprehensive school in Mahikeng local municipality, Chris Hani secondary school in Matlosana local municipality and MM Sebitloane special school in Greater Taung local municipality.

The training on urban search and rescue was a partnership between the Provincial Disaster Management Centre and the National Disaster Management Centre and was intended to capacitate the fire fighters to effectively respond to emergency situations e.g. structural collapse and mining disasters.
