Hawks arrest two police officers for corruption

A Warrant Officer (50) and a Constable (35), stationed at SAPS Mokopane were arrested for alleged corruption by the Hawks' Serious Corruption Investigation Unit on Tuesday, 3 April 3 2018.

The pair allegedly arrested a foreign national on Tuesday afternoon for being undocumented and they've reportedly demanded R500 bribe for his release.

The victim who was allegedly locked at the back of the police van phoned his relative to ask for the money. The matter was brought to the Hawks' attention and an entrapment operation was carried out, resulting in the arrest of the suspects after they accepted the bribe.

The suspects are expected to appear at the Mokopane Magistrates' Court on 5 April 2018 to face charges relating to corruption.
