PARKTOWN - Mr Mninwa Thokozani Jacob Masilela, current executive chairperson of the Gauteng Community Police Board, was this past week at a special general meeting of the National Community Police Board in Pretoria, elected as Public Relations Officer of the National Board. The special meeting took place on Thursday 18 April 2019.
Mr Masilela has a long spanning history in the community-policing space where he started as local chairperson of Germiston Community Police Forum; moved up to cluster chairperson; deputy chairperson and now chairperson of Gauteng Provincial Cimmunity Police Board in his second term.
"SAPS' biggest strife is to win back public confidence and trust. The CPF therefore serves as an important bridge between the SAPS and the community; and hence the adoption of community mobilisation and collaboration as one of my six priorities towards reducing the volumes of crime in the Province," said Gauteng Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Elias Mawela, wishing Mr Masilela well in his new role.
