Western Cape: Members from Steenberg SAPS are passionate about fulfilling the needs of the community and ensuring that the Lavender Hill area is safe. They participated in crime prevention operations on Tuesday, 6 March 2018 at 18:50 and were patrolling in the area when they observed two suspicious men who started running when they saw the police. Police pursued them and they were arrested in a yard in Eltister Road, Lavender Hill. The suspects were searched and ammunition was found in their possession. The two suspects, aged 27 and 30, were arrested for the illegal possession of 97 live rounds of ammunition.
In another incident that occurred today, 7 March 2018 at 00:30, members of Steenberg SAPS were again patrolling in Lavender Hill when they assisted other members with a man behaving suspiciously at Roos Court, Lavender Hill. The suspect ran up the stairs and was seen placing something in a cap, which he dropped on the ground. The members stopped the suspect and went for the cap. They found a Ruby Extra revolver, loaded with six rounds of .38 special rounds of ammunition. The 37 year old suspect was arrested for being in possession of a firearm without a license and the illegal possession of ammunition.
All suspects are expected to appear in the Wynberg Magistrate's Court as soon as they have been charged.
