Elliotdale Police are investigating the murders of a woman and her son. It is alleged that the 21-year-old son was sleeping in his room separated from his mother's room at their home at Cwebe Village, Elliotdale. It is alleged that this morning at about 04:00 the son heard his mother crying in her room.
The son went to the room of his mother and found an unknown man who stabbing his mother. The son tried to rescue his mother by fighting with the assailant. Unfortunately he was overpowered and was fatally stabbed. The suspect left after having murdered the 58-year-old mother. The motive behind the murders is not known at this point in time. The identities of both deceased are still being withheld as most of their relatives are yet to be informed of their murders.

The information will be treated confidentially. Butterworth Cluster Commander, Brigadier Ngangema Xakavu condemned the murders of the deceased persons. He vowed that Elliotdale Police detectives will leave no stone unturned as they will work around the clock to bring the suspect to book.
