Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Mr Buti Manamela, to give a keynote address at launch of the Quality Council for Trades and Occupation’s (QCTO) launch of the Occupational Qualification Sub-Framework (OQSF) in Kempton Park on Thursday, 09 March 2023.

The Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) will, as part of its effort to promote access to Post-School Education and Training (PSET) for the future world of work, host the launch of the Occupational Qualifications Sub-Framework (OQSF).

The launch of the Occupational Qualifications Sub-Framework (OQSF) marks the next big step in the education and training landscape.

The OQSF is a component of the National Qualifications Framework (NQF), which aims to create a single integrated national framework for learning achievements; facilitate access to, as well as mobility and progression within, education, training, and career paths; enhance the quality of education and training and accelerate the redress of past unfair discrimination in education, training and employment opportunities.

Referred to as the game-changer for the industry, the OQSF brings the country closer to a system that satisfies the demands of industries while also guaranteeing that students have access to qualifications that prepare them for the workforce and allow them to map a learning pathway across the National Qualifications Framework (NQF).

The Deputy Minister will be joined by the QCTO CEO, Mr. Vijayen Naidoo, Education and Training Sector strategic partners and other leaders within the skills development sector.

The QCTO is expecting more than 150 delegates from the education and training sector, and relevant government departments to attend this august event.
