Pretoria - Communications Minister Faith Muthambi has congratulated television and radio presenter Rhulani Baloyi on her win at the South African Film and Television Awards (Saftas).
"Baloyi has shown us that disability is not an impediment to success. I am thrilled for Baloyi and her employer, the SABC.
"The public broadcaster's relentless efforts to empower disabled employees and give them opportunities especially in on-air shows have not gone unnoticed. For that, the SABC deserves to be congratulated," said the Minister in a statement on Monday.
The presenter scooped a Special Recognition Award at Saftas. The award serves as an acknowledgement of the strides Baloyi has made in television.
The glamorous awards ceremony was held on Saturday night in Midrand, Gauteng. The Saftas, which are South Africa's own version of the Emmy Awards, celebrates excellence in all aspects of the film and television industry.
The Minister further congratulates all winners in the various other categories of the awards.
