A 29-year-old woman arrested for possession of ammunition

An integrated operation by the Strand police led to the arrest of a 29-year-old woman for the illegal possession of ammunition.

On Friday, 20 April 2018 at approximately 14:55, Strand police received information about firearms and ammunition being kept at a certain address in the precinct.

Swift reaction by SAPS members led to the recovery of 199 x 9mm pistol rounds, 11 shot gun rounds, 34 x .38 special revolver rounds and one shot gun cleaning kit at Arends Way, Broadlands Park in Strand.

Once charged, the arrested woman is expected to make a court appearance in the Strand Magistrates' Court.

The co-operation of the public in providing this information has assisted the police to remove more illegal ammunition from the streets. The members are applauded for the work they have done and the community members are thanked for working hand in hand with the police to curb crime and remove criminal elements.
