Ambrois, Tjiueza, and Shitembi join camp in South Africa

Namibia’s internationally-based players Petrus Shitembi, Ambrosius Petrus and Prins Tjiueza were on Wednesday welcomed to their camp in Johannesburg ahead of their clash against South Africa on Saturday.

The Brave Warriors of Namibia will take on their South African counterparts Bafana Bafana in an international friendly match at the Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg at 15h00 on Saturday.

Collin Benjamin, the head coach of the senior men’s team, told Nampa on Thursday that he is happy to see the trio joining the camp.

“They missed the morning training after arriving late from their respective clubs as flights were delayed, but they are going to join us in our afternoon session which will focus more on tactics,” he said.

Benjamin added that having Shitembi back in the team is a great thing as he is a player who can hold the ball.

“He (Shitembi) has eyes on finding players that can score the goals on the field. We also have our South African-based player Deon Hotto back in the team, he will be valuable as he will add his experience,” said Benjamin.

The coach stated that Namibia is looked at as a small brother to South Africa, but he has a squad of players hungry to prove themselves.

“Bafana Bafana are the favourites going into this match, but we are going to be resilient. The boys are psyched up and want to use this opportunity to prove themselves. We are going to be aggressive and give it our all,” he said, before stating that South Africa will have to go overboard to beat them.

He also said that despite missing several experienced players in his squad due to injuries, he is positive of a good result.

“We have a few young stars like Prins (Tjiueza) in the team and we are going to make a few tactical changes as our game was planned around Ronald Ketjijere and Peter Shalulile but with them not being around, we are going to throw in some surprises and we are going to make the country proud,” Benjamin said.
