Lady Grey: The Aliwal North Stock Theft Unit managed to successfully arrest a 40-year-old suspect for the theft of 18 sheep on a farm in the Lady Grey district.
This arrest follows after police recovered 13 sheep that was taken from the grazing camp on 17 December 2018. Positive information was followed up but the suspect managed to flee from the scene.
Thirteen of the eighteen reported stolen sheep were traced and the livestock was positively identified by its identification marks and were subsequently handed over to the lawful owner.
The Cluster Commander, Brigadier Trevor Mey commended the members for their efforts and emphasized how important animal identification marks are in order to assist the SAPS in their investigation. Keep up with the good work!
