On Friday 5 October 2018 a 20-year-old male was arrested for the possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Manenberg SAPS members patrolling the area were stopped by the community and informed about a gangs shooting in Kei Street, Manenberg. These members acted swiftly and approached these gang members tactically.
The suspect who was still holding the firearm in his hand was ordered to drop it. He was arrested for the possession of a 9mm pistol and a magazine with 14 live rounds.
He will be appearing in the Athlone Magistrate Court on Monday, 08 October 2018 on charges of illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.

The Western Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen KE Jula commended the community for furnishing the members with the information and the members for their swift response and getting another firearm of the streets and arresting a dangerous criminal and removing him from the community. He also encourages communities to report crime to police.
