Galeshewe Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offenses Unit (FCS) conducted an information sharing session with community on gender-based violence

Galeshewe SAPS merged with nine stakeholders from different state departments including; Government Communications and Information Services, Social Development, Thuthuzela, Department of Health, FAMSA, Northern Cape Drug and Rehab Centre, Batho Pele and Children living with disabilities Organisation, and held an information sharing programme on Gender-Based Violence at Betty Gaetsewe Local Clinic.

The purpose of the session was to educate and inform the community about the stigma behind domestic violence which is common in our communities and was declared a national crisis by our President Mr Cyril Ramaphosa during his recent address on the issue of femicide.

Gender based violence is a phenomenon deeply rooted in gender inequality and continues to be one of the most notable human rights violations within all societies.

Various representatives from the mentioned stakeholders shed some light on Gender-Based Violence and gave out information about the services they provide in order to help victims of domestic violence or anyone who is violated in any way. The SAPS was well represented by Sergeant Masao from Galeshewe FCS.

The programme was informative and helpful to the society and it was concluded by Moleboheng Maphutsi from Government Communications and Information System with some words of appreciation and gratitude.
