DURBAN - Police at Phoenix and Madadeni conducted stop and search operations in their policing precincts to eradicate the use of drugs. A total of ten suspects were arrested during these operations and various drugs were seized.
In the operation that was conducted at Phoenix, seven suspects were arrested for possession of heroin, ecstasy and cocaine at various spots. Police officers also conducted disruptive operations in the vicinity of areas known to be frequented by drug users.
In Madadeni, three suspects were arrested for possession of dagga and 27 mandrax tablets. Police also seized 11 packages containing a powder which is suspected to be drugs. The substance will be subjected to forensic analysis to determine its identity.
The arrested suspects aged between 21 and 42 are expected to appear in Madadeni and Phoenix Magistrate's Court on Monday while the police officers continue with drug operations across the province.
